PEEK material introduction

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a bone implant material approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2013. It is a semi-crystalline high-performance polymer material that has been internationally considered to be one of the most promising biomaterials that are in the future, and in the next generation it is possible to replace titanium alloy materials as raw materials for bone implants.

Compared with metal materials, PEEK has a density and elastic modulus closer to that of the human bone. Using PEEK as implant material will reduce postoperative discomfort and effectively alleviate the stress shielding effect, and PEEK is translucent and non-magnetic to X-ray transmission.
